A birthday simply isn't a birthday without cake and we had a whopper to celebrate our 40th anniversary made by Horticultural Therapist and talented baker Julia, with some help from client gardeners Carl, Emma and Josh.
As well as looking amazing, the cake was a treat to taste and not surprisingly was polished off in no time by clients, families, staff, supporters and guests during our Reading flower show last week! 🍰

When Nicholas had a major stroke, he lost the use of one side of his body.
As he puts it, a large part of his brain was left dead.
The impact was not just physical but psychological and social, as Nicholas was left feeling incredibly isolated as a result of the stroke and all the upheaval that it caused.
Nicholas attended Thrives's Life After Stroke programme in Battersea Park and over 12 weeks undertook therapeutic gardening to help his rehabilitation through tasks aimed at strengthening limbs and improving fine motor skills.
The social side of coming to Thrive proved invaluable too. He found Thrive provided a supportive and encouraging atmosphere and a real sense of community.
Today Nicholas is a volunteer at Thrive London.
