On Thursday 26th September the Duke of Sussex   @sussexroyal   will be meeting some of the children and young people supported by Sentebale in Chobe district during his   #RoyalTour  . Founded in 2006 by The Duke of Sussex and Prince Seeiso, Sentebale helps the most vulnerable children in Lesotho, Botswana and Malawi – the victims of extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic – get the support, tools and education they need to lead long, healthy and productive lives.

The Duke of Sussex   @sussexroyal   will visit a Sentebale project working to support young people affected by HIV in Botswana. His Royal Highness and Prince Seeiso founded Sentebale in 2006 to provide care, support and education to children and young people living in Lesotho and Botswana whose lives have been affected by HIV. His Royal Highness will join Sentebale   #LetYouthLead   advocates in a camp activity which aims to instil confidence and peer support in young people who are coming to terms with living with HIV. The Duke will witness Sentebale’s Radio Positive show, hosted by the charity’s Let Youth Lead advocates on local radio station DUMA FM. On 16th July 2019, Yulia Syerova   @avoreys   successfully reached the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps at 4,810m (15,780 ft) raising over £500 in aid of Sentebale. “It took me almost 17 hours to reach the summit and descend. But still I believe it’s incomparable with harsh conditions and difficult daily life of young shepherds working in mountainous regions of Lesotho,” Yulia said. On the behalf of the Sentebale team, we would like to thank you, Yulia. What an achievement! Feeling inspired? "As Sentebale management, we are proud of our   #LetYouthLead   advocates and we are humbled by the response from the public particularly from those young people who are still struggling to accept their HIV status and commence treatment. Our young people have made personal sacrifices by publicising their HIV status to help those in need like you. Reach out to them, we are here to support them to help you!" said Ketlogetswe Montshiwa, head of programme, Botswana.   #StopTheStigma     #EndHIV     #BeTheChange

This year's Sentebale's   #YouthHIVSummit   in Gaborone, Botswana would not be as successful without the presence of our team of volunteers. On the behalf of the Sentebale team, thank you to each and everyone of you for finding the time to help and using your voice to advocate for the voiceless.   #EndHIV     #YoungChangeMakers

“Education is the foundation for all development work and so it is very important that we encourage and support young children to remain engaged in mainstream education,” says Richard Miller, Sentebale chief executive. Transforming education is at the root of combating HIV and building an AIDS free generation. "Just completed the Prudential RideLondon 100 riding fixed gear on behalf of Sentebale – I wanted a challenge that would remind me of why I was doing this, not just to go for a long bike ride! Proud to have ridden in support of Sentebale who play such a vital role in advocating for, empowering and giving voice to children and young people who have started life under some really challenging circumstances," said Daniel who completed the gruelling 100-mile course in 6.5 hours. On the behalf of the Sentebale team: Congratulations again on completing the challenge, Daniel! You should be incredibly proud of your achievement.   #TeamSentebale     #Challenge     #SportForGood   If you missed out on a space this year and want to help children and young people overcome discrimination and disadvantage in their lives, check our website or email us at info  @sentebale.org   to sign up for your own challenge and join   #TeamSentebale  !

'The progress underscores the potential to end AIDS as a public health threat among children in the near future. While this is good news in general, young people, and especially young people in key populations, must remain at the centre of prevention and care efforts,' says   @unaidsglobal.   Never miss an update on the things you care about. "Sentebale is really focused on the HIV and AIDS epidemic and we have seen a generation if young people wiped out. But there is hope now with new treatments. People are beginning to learn more about it, and how they can keep themselves safe. What we need to do is take advantage of the new opportunities and build for the future," Sentebale chief executive said.   #Lesotho     #StopTheStigma     #humanrights     #socialjustice     #EndHIV     #EndAIDS     #HIVprevention   #
